About Madina Ghafori
1. Please describe yourself in a few sentences.
Welcome to my profile! I'm Madina Ghafori, a graduate from the University of Toronto Scarborough. I obtained my Honours Bachelors of Science with distinction degree in the Co-op Specialist stream of Psychology. I have had many years of experience in tutoring students. I have been a peer tutor for science students during my undergraduate years and presently, I work as a private tutor by helping students excel in their academic studies through homework support and one-on-one teaching learning subject concepts/material.
2. What is your tutoring approach? Give us your history working with students
My tutoring approach involves one-on-one tutor to student basis, where I would answer specific questions and queries of each student whether it be providing homework support or teaching a concept or class material that the student had trouble understanding in class. Since 2007, I have had many opportunities to work with students from young children to young adults. I have led reading circles for elementary school children with the TDSB. During undergrad, I co-facilitated a 3.5 hour program teaching grades 4-6 about the brain and the importance of injury prevention through interactive learning activities and experiments. I was a peer tutor for science students at my university by helping fellow undergraduates with their coursework in psychology and biology. Currently, I'm a private tutor for students who need help with their school work.
3. How long have you been a tutor for? What do you most enjoy about it?
I have been a tutor for the past three years. Being a tutor gives me an opportunity to transfer my study skill set to other students and seeing them excel. In fact, whenever I see my students excel in their academic studies, this gives me the greatest joy.
