About Antonella Pagano
1. Please describe yourself in a few sentences.
I am a third year student at York University, enrolled in the Children Studies and Concurrent Education program. I have tutored students one on one in a classroom and home setting. I am patient, positive and flexible, which allows tutoring sessions to run smoothly. My favourite part about tutoring, is encouraging students to tackle their tasks and showing enthusiasm when their goal is complete.
2. What is your tutoring approach? Give us your history working with students
My tutoring approach is child-focused because it is the best way to listen to the needs of students and create a unique plan to achieve their goals. When i tutor, I like to provide examples and visuals to help the child's understanding of the subject. I also like to include a fun activity for the student, in order to promote a positive learning atmosphere. I follow this approach because I want each session to be interactive, in a way where the student does most of the talking.
3. How long have you been a tutor for? What do you most enjoy about it?
I have tutored for a year. I love motivating students and providing them with positive words such as "You're doing great" and "You can do it!" I also enjoy watching students grow and become academically stronger everyday. My favourite moment in tutoring is when the student gets the "light bulb" moment and the whole lesson falls together.
